bullet point A subscriber newsletter and RSS Feed will keep you informed about new product reviews, the latest updates and other original content as they appear. As a paying subscriber, you will also be able to contact the authors for additional clarification.

bullet point The OLAP Report is available for a multi-user workgroup or individual use by annual subscription. Each user is supplied with a user ID and password which gives that person unlimited access to the Web site from any PC. If several people in your organization require access, then you must have a multi-user subscription (available at discounted prices). Renewals, and multi-year subscriptions, are also significantly discounted.

bullet point Because of their wider interest, vendors and consultants are offered larger workgroup licenses at discounted prices. A special rate applies to consultants who will be using the material in their work for other organizations. Vendors may also purchase a package allowing company-wide access and marketing support. Who is behind The OLAP Report?

The OLAP Report is internationally respected for being:

  • Genuinely impartial — unlike most research and analyst services, our revenues come from subscriptions, not vendor sponsorship.
  • Exceptionally authoritative — Nigel Pendse, the widely-quoted and consulted lead analyst and editor, is recognized internationally as a foremost expert in this field.
  • Well established — The OLAP Report, now in its eleventh year, gives you access to over half-a-million words of evaluation, analysis and advice.
  • Independently owned — The OLAP Report is owned by BARC, a research, consultancy and publishing company with no ties to any BI vendor, and dedicated to providing objective information on business technology.
  • Highly credible — independent research shows that The OLAP Report is the most widely used, dedicated source of no-punches-pulled insights into OLAP products, market trends and applications.

·
… But I can get research for free!

Of course you can get a lot of information for ‘free’ but you pay the price in terms of:

  • Lack of objectivity — much is vendor sponsored or from consultancies and services pushing their own agendas
  • Lack of reliability — there are no warranties with free information nor is accuracy guaranteed
  • Lack of depth — you run the risk of drawing conclusions from incomplete, biased or distorted information
  • Lack of originality — you have no idea of the provenance of the data which is most likely second-hand and rehashed.
  • Lack of convenience — pulling information together from disparate sources is time-consuming and irksome.

For all these and other reasons, free information can turn out to be costly and also business-damaging.

Why does it cost so much?

You are paying for two valuable benefits. First, the knowledge and expertise of Nigel Pendse and The OLAP Report’s other authors. Second, for the time, effort and care taken to research, compile and check that the information provided is correct. This is what makes The OLAP Report pre-eminent in the marketplace. Remember, the cost is a fraction of its value. We know that our subscribers can recoup their subscriptions many times over by applying what they learn from The OLAP Report.

Unlike other sources of market information, The OLAP Report does not generate revenue from vendor advertising or sponsorship.
